First Rounds in WW2
World War two begins at 04.45 September the first, when German battleship Schleswig-Holstein commences a firing on a Polish armys fortress Westerplatte. Same time German troops start to cross the border into Poland.
The battleship SMS Schleswig-Holstein was constructed in Kiel in August 1905 and served in both of the World Wars. The ship was used as a training vessel for most of the time, because it was outdated in armor, size and firepower when it was completed. The battleship Schleswig-Holstein was sunk by British bombers in December 1944. The Battleship was briefly used after the bombardment in the Soviet Navy, before using it as scrap metal.
